A paper lightly exploring the newest frontier in psychology – quantum mechanics – and a coinciding theory of consciousness – Orchestrated Objective Reduction theory.
Yes. Absolutley. While I'm far from an expert, I was lucky enough to read six-hundred pages of a textbook published in april 2024 called the Psychology of Consciousness. it gives me a foundation to speak on. The authors talk about the problems we have in the understanding of consciousness, problems that the mechanical networks of the brain cannot explain. Although we get deeper into the science of neutral networks and further develop theories that grasp at an understanding of consciousness, there is still serious confusion. Their seems to be a gap, a deepening void between the physical processes of the brain and the concept we have about our unified self; the nature of being; and freewill. This theory speaks to me because it covers these three problems (yet still dosent explain all the other problems) using the physics of quantum mechanics, and what we know about the universe. Though refuted by Einstein as basically being pointless, and maybe he has a point, quantum physics is like understanding how the code to our universe works in a probalistic way -- where we exist in the binary of true and false, zero and one -- quantum physics is how the true and the false, the zero and the one, fall into one reality over the other. It's truly strange that we can begin to grasp the concept that even reality is not fixed until we observe it, something so uncanny that i am genuinely shocked we have any evidence proving it at all. To think we have this quantum computing in the brain, however, is revolutionary. If this were to be true, it suggests that our consciousness is tied into the fabric of the universe, leaving our consciousness as one of the most powerful forces in the universe. Powerful in a sense that reality falls into place after consciousness puts it there. What this opens up is the possibility that these ideas of prayer, or manifestation, or 'luck' , really do have mechanicisms behind them. mechanisms that, when understanding, may bridge or altogether rid of that deepening void between physical processes and experiential consciousness. In wisdom from long ago, blasphemous wisdom perhaps, is the idea that God the Creator is within US, that all is Mental, that the microcosm reflect the macrocosm, and our world is reflected in the universe. Perhaps that wisdom was not just wisdom, but truth.
